Beef: Genomic time travel for more resilient cattle

An international team of researchers has sequenced the genomes of 172 African cattle and retraced their genetic evolution. They’ve discovered a new set of detailed genetic markers associated with valuable traits like heat and drought tolerance, control of ticks and inflammation, and resistance to diseases like trypanosomiasis.
